Home Sweet Home

We've been in Tennessee all week visiting with friends and family, hiking, fishing, celebrating S's birthday and introducing Vivvers to everyone.
The kiddos have been having loads of fun. S has been outside almost the entire week and Vivvers has been chattering and smiling at all her relatives.
We captured this picture at the Tennessee state line. This is Vivian first setting foot in the Volunteer State, and in true hillbilly fashion, she's barefoot. We'll be here all next week too. I'll try to post little updates occasionally.

Happy Birthday Little Man

Five years ago today I gave birth to this wild and beautiful boy, and he has filled my life with happiness and fun ever since. Happy birthday Seamus Gwyn! I love you.

Yarn-Along

Joining the Small Things Yarn-Along this Wednesday...

On the needles: Seamus's Rainbow Snake. I've been working on this guy for, I'm ashamed to say, a couple of weeks. Honestly, I'm barely knitting these days. With my online class and all the papers I've been grading and keeping up with two little ones, I just don't have the time. But every once in awhile I sneak in a row or two.

Off the bookshelf:
Short stories! These are perfect for night time nursing sessions.

For this yarn-along Wednesday, I thought I'd take a moment and share something knitting-related. My friend and co-worker, Peggy, made Vivian a most elegant teething bib, and we've gotten a lot of use out of it this week. If that first tooth doesn't sprout soon, I don't know what we'll do. This week Vivvers is drooling buckets, chewing on everything, wanting to nurse non-stop, and crying (with her hands in her mouth) a lot more than usual.

But even in the midst of all that gum pain, she manages to smile often.

Her little bib is working out beautifully. Peggy, if you're reading this...thank you!

Happy Easter

We've been celebrating Easter all weekend, coloring Easter eggs, eating chocolate and jelly beans, and egg hunting in the park. This year Seamus gave all his Easter eggs names, and cried when we told him he either had to eat them or throw them away in a day or two. My favorites eggs were Nightwalker and Golden.

We got dressed up and spent most of the day at our favorite park. It was the perfect spring day with blue and sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 60s. It seems every Easter day in my memory looks like this.

Perhaps this is why Easter is one of my favorite holidays (that and I love dying eggs).

Since the Easter bunny didn't bring Vivian a basket full of candy, I was hoping to have an Easter bonnet all made up for her today. I purchased the Baby Jane Sunbonnet sewing pattern on Etsy a couple of days ago, but so far all I've done is cut out the fabric. My sewing skills are non-existent; Thomas will probably have to help me with most of the construction.

But sometime this week I hope to have cute bonnet pictures to show y'all.

Happy Easter!
