On Thursday afternoon we packed up the family (pets and all) into a rental car and headed down to Tennessee for a spu-of-the-moment trip. My wonderful parents bought a new car and have given us their old one, a 2002 Toyota Highlander...not too shabby.
We decided to make the most of our visit and stay through the 4th of July. Here's a little of what we've done so far...
Berry picking at Grandie and Grandpa's:
Fishing and pick-nicking with Mamaw and Papaw Mark at the Watauga River:
We've seen groundhogs, ducks and hummingbirds so far. Of course we have all these things in New Jersey, but it's so rare that we get to see them. At Mamaw's house, you can sit on the porch for any length of time and the humming birds will be right there at arm's reach, fighting over the feeder.
