Here are a few highlights from our Thanksgiving with my parents, who drove all the way up from Tennessee to fix Thanksgiving dinner and stay with us for a few days.
Seamus was a big show-off the whole time, despite still being sick with bronchitis. He ran around the house with all his toys and stayed up late most nights. Of course, this meant he slept in the next morning too...which was great for me since I didn't have to be up at 5 am to commute to work.
Seamus had blackberries for breakfast everyday, which is perfect for a boy who likes to squish his food:
We (by we I mean Grandie) spent most of Thanksgiving day cooking the actualy meal.
I made the green bean casserole, while Grandpa made the mashed potatoes:
And Grandie made everything else!
But everyone took a turn at whipping the heavy cream...we made our own cinnamon whipped cream and heaped over the pumpkin pie.
The food was delicious and we ate and ate and had left overs the next few days and generally stuffed ourselves. But that didn't stop me and Mr. S from sharing a red velvet cupcake at the bookstore:
Thanks Grandie and Grandpa! We had a lovely visit and sure are happy you made it home safely.
Now it's back to work and day dreaming of Tennessee at Christmas. After school today, Seamus was singing Jingle Bell Rock and talking about Santa coming, and on the way home we looked at all the snowflake and Christmas lights our town has put up. (They went up a few weeks before Thanksgiving!)
We miss you all and can't wait to see you!
