Central Park Zoo

Mr. T came in this weekend, and after Seamus said he wanted to show his Papa the Scarlet Ibis at the Zoo, we decided that another visit to the Central Park Zoo was in order. Zoo tickets are pretty cheap ($10 for adults and free for children under 3), certainly cheaper than the whopping $45 we have to pay to get into Liberty Science Center, which is just down the road from us.

The zoo was such fun the last time Seamus and I went on our own, and it's always nice any time we get the chance to hang out in Central Park. This time I had a camera.

Seamus fell asleep on the train ride into the city; so T and I walked around 34th Street, snapped some pictures and perused a bookstore.

By the time we made it to Central Park, Seamus was still asleep and missed the squirrel that joined us on the park bench just outside the zoo. He was so tame, kept inching closer and closer to me and standing on his hind legs to see if I had food. I made the mistake of giving him some of Seamus's smiley faces and cookies...at least they were organic. And he got so close I was seriously afraid he was going to jump in my lap.

Awwww nature; we miss you…

We had an overpriced zoo lunch at the Dancing Crane Cafe.

And then it was off to the sea lions...

the penguins...

the harbor seals...

the toucans...

the scarlet ibises...

frogs...

monkeys...

turtles...

polar bears (all sleeping)...

swans...

more monkeys (notice the baby in its mother's arms):

And then...Seamus acting like a monkey:

My little clown with a ring of cherry sherbet around his mouth:

Our family portraits always go something like this:

Wheeee!

Good-bye zoo:

When we got to Hoboken Terminal, there was a cruise ship on the Hudson:

Good-bye New York:

Lydia, the new camera takes absolutely marvelous pictures! They are so sharp and the color is wonderful. I don't know if you could have a better one. Glad you had a fun day.

Love, Richda
