Does anyone have one of these...

an ErgoBaby Carrier? Or do you know someone who does? I'm thinking of purchasing one and would love to know if they really do hold a child up to 55 lbs. Mr. S outgrew his Baby Bjorn a long time ago. If I ever find a job, this would be so much easier than lugging a stroller to and from work.

yes, i have one, but i'm using it with the infant insert until Elsa is over 14 pounds. so i can't help you with the 55 lbs. thing. i read rave reviews about it, that's why i decided on that one over all the other carriers. i spoke to a mother who carried her babe in one while i was pregnant and she loved hers and wouldn't own anything else. but she was the only person around here i've ever spoken to, but i've seen one other mother carry hers in one in JC since. had to order it online because no place in TN sells them, though they do in Asheville (ok, maybe they do in Nasville, but they didn't in knoxville). you can carry on your front up to maybe 20 pounds but i think it get really uncomfy at that point and you should carry on your back or possibly on either hip after that point. sorry i can't be more help.

Thanks Rebecca! Some of the testimonials show five year olds in the back hold position. It looks comfortable for both mom and baby.

If you find out, please let me know. 36lb Syd is not a great fan of walking around in crowds, but loves to be carried through them (I guess she just wants to see). I was going to get in touch with this girl who makes these baby sling wraps that can hold a toddler so we would have one by festival season.

I haven't read or heard a bad thing about them, and they seem much more comfortable that a backpack with a frame. I'll let you know.
